(3) ~ To the South of Colourful Clouds (Final Part)

On the third day of the journey,  I joined another local tour for Li Jiang’s holy snow-capped  mountain Yu Long Xue Shan and  some  other  tourist spots.  Coming from the Bai Ethnic Minority,  Xiao Gao was our a softly-spoken well-mannered professional tour guide.

Yu Long Xue Shan stands at about 5,500 metres.  Temperature is just above zero celcius degree even in spring time.  Picture below shows bored people waiting to board the cable car to the mountain.  Padded down jackets are available for hire at the cable car station.  Oxygen canisters are for sale defy the altitude sickness.  Preying on people’s panic psychology, these products were very well-received.

The cable car was super fast.  It took less than 15 minutes for us to  get to the 4.500-metre high station.  The cable car journey was too short for my body to adjust to the rise in altitude.  Up there, I  experienced altitude sickness for the first time: I felt dizzy and had a headache, which last till the end of the day.

Braving the low temperature, two men bared their chests and posed for the camera.  The woman was obviously disinterested in their pulpy muscles.

For a nice photo shot, this couple didn’t mind the low temperature up on  the snow mountain.

A Vincent Kok lookalike was spotted.  He was a vendor selling goldfish for people to set free to earn good fortune for themselves and their loved ones.
